Sweeping subscription or one-off visit? How to choose
An annually recurring job is exactly what a subscription is for — but it isn't the best choice in every situation.
The price difference is clear: a one-off sweep costs € 60 to € 100 per flue, a visit within the sweeping subscription € 55 to € 90 — roughly 10% less. That discount isn't bait but route logic: a chimney sweep doing several addresses in the same neighbourhood on one day loses less time driving and passes that on.
The real benefit of a subscription isn't the price but never having to think about it. The professional schedules you automatically every year, before the heating season instead of in the December rush, and you naturally build a stack of sweeping certificates — exactly what your insurer wants to see if it asks for an annual sweep on a used chimney (check your policy terms).
When is a one-off visit more logical? If you light the fireplace only a few times a year, if you've just moved and first want to know what shape the flue is in — combine that first sweep with a camera inspection — or if you're about to renovate and don't yet know whether the stove stays. You can still take out a subscription afterwards; cancelling is arranged directly with the professional.
If your street has more wood burners, share your request with the neighbours: several flues in one street make the route truly worthwhile and the price per address sharper. The current rates are in the price index.
